Patra Pinwheel .

Patra / Pattervelia / Pinwheel savory is a delicacy made out of Colocasia leaves . A very welcome snack / Kalewa , let us prepare it at our home with full hygiene and holy remembrance of our Shri Thakurji.

Ingredients

Colocasia Leaves , Patra

1 cup Besan

1 lemon

1tsp. Salt

2tsp. Sugar

1/4 tsp Turmeric

1/4 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds.

1/4 tsp Rai , mustard seeds.

1/4 tsp seasem seeds.

few curry leaves.

1 tbs oil for garnishing.

Preparation Method

Clean and wipe dry Colocasia leaves , with fine knife devein the leaf, cutting the bulging veins on the back.

Mix the besan, lemon juice, salt, sugar, termeric, carom seeds with the help of little water , to make a smooth batter to cover the leaves.

Spread the leaf with the right side on the floor, cover with batter, place the other leaf with face down , repeat the application till 4 or 5 leaves are done .

Fold from both the sides and fold in a neat roll securing the ends with the besan batter.

Heat water in a pot with lid and a seiev for steaming the leaf roll.

Cook for 5 to 6 mins – check with piercing a knief if done.

Cool and cut into rings / pinwheels , keep aside.

Heat the oil in a small vaghariya add mustard seed,seasam seed, curry leaves – spread it on the pinwheels.

Serve this delicate Kalewa with green chutny to your Kanhaji.
