Ubalyu / Steamed Pot

UBALYU is Gujarati word for a more or less boiled savory mixed Potatoes with veggies and greens. A sumptuous platter of goodies and nutrition. Let us make it with lots of love.


  • 2 Potatoes
  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 Ratalu/ Purple Potaoes.
  • 100grams of Small flat Beans / Papadi / Sem
  • Salt to taste
  • 2tbs Green Chutney
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • Pinch of Turmeric, Coriander Powder, Amchur.

Preparation Method

Clean the veggies and Potatoes thoroughly.

Chop the Sweet Potato, Purple Potato in 1 inch pieces.

Cut the Potato to 2 inch squares.

On the Flat beans sprinkle oil and mix all the ingredients . Spread it on the bottom on convection Handi sorts pan.

Over this make a layer of Potatoes – Sweet Potatoes, Purple / Ratalu / Potatoes.

Cover the layer with Chutney .

Cover and cook on a slow flame for 10 mins. Open the lid when you get lovely smell of cooked Potatoes.

Garnish with coriender leaves – devote a leaf of Tulsi ji and offer the complete meal the Ubalyu ! Shri Krushna arpanam astu .
