PURAN POLI – traditional sweet dish in western India , is a favourite all over continent . Also known as Bedmi Poori – stuffed sweet filling of Gram Dal or Lentils is very healthy ,filling and complete meal.
It has high protein packed with the goodness of Ghee / Butter – which is necessary for skin , lubrication of joints etc.
Let us prepare this delightful Puries / Rotis and satisfy Shree Thakurji .
- Bengal Gram / Chana Dal – Lintel / Tuar Dal
Jaggery / Gur – 1/2 cups grated.
Saffron / Kesar – 1 pinch.
Green Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp.
Nutmeg Powder / Jaifal – 1 pinch.
For the Dough –
Refined flour – Maida 1/2 cups
Salt a pinch
Pure ghee –
Puran / Stuffing –
Coarsely grind boiled , drained Chana Dal.
Add the dal, grated jaggery, saffron, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder and mix well.
Cook the dal leaves the sides of the pan and you can make a soft ball. Cool Now.
Poli / Puri-
Mix maida ,salt, three tbsp. of ghee and water to make a soft dough.
Cover with a damp cloth and keep aside for one hour.
Flatten the dough ball in your palm, stuff with puran and cover – seal the edges.
Dust it with flour and roll out into four to five inches diameter Poli of medium thickness.
Heat Pan and cook puran poli until done on both sides.
Grease with Ghee generously .Serve hot
