Kesari Bhaat

The delicacy of KESARI BHAAT / SAFFRON RICE , this is sweet yellow coloured rice, offered to Shree Krushna on the auspicious day of BASANT PANCHAMI..



  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Saffron, almonds, cardamoms.
  • water for cooking rice.
  • ghee – 2 tbs.
  • edible yellow colour .

Preparation Method

  • Heat ghee in a rice cooker, add washed rice and water to cook. As the rice is just about to cook add sugar and let the sugar melt and mix well. When the rice is cooked add the chopped almonds, saffron strands,cardamoms crushed and a pinch of yellow colour. Cover and allow the rice to stand for 5 minutes.


  • Open the lid and serve the sweet, saffron rice to Shree Thakurji with loads of love and bhaav.
