Moriya also known as Indian Branyard Millet, Varai, Samo, Bhagar, Vrat ke chawal are tiny grains from Millet family , used in fasting. We can prepare sweet and savoury both. Here we are going to prepare Kichadi  / Upma sorts. It is filling and delicious for the Young Kanha to relish this treat.


  • 1/2 cup Moriya washed
  • 2cups water
  • 2tbs Ghee
  • Handfull of Resins – washed
  • Sindhav Salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1green chilli chopped
  • 1/2 lemon.

Preparation Method

Heat Cooker , add Ghee and Moriya cover it with water , add salt to taste and resins ,cover to cook. After two whistels open the cooker to check the texture of Upma.

If hard add more water mix well and coriander, chilli , lemon and mix well.

Serve this substantial Upma to your Lalla.
